Virtual Resources for Study Abroad

USA Study Abroad is dedicated to helping U.S. higher education institutions access the resources they need to expand and diversify their study abroad programming. Earlier this week we highlighted our Study Abroad Capacity Building Grants program, but we have a variety of digital resources accessible to all institutions.

Our free Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) is available to any higher education administrator who wants to learn how to build and grow a study abroad program at their institution. Jump start your program planning through ready-to-use information and practical templates developed by leaders in the study abroad field. Hear from leaders from community colleges, as well as small, medium, and large universities (both public and private) to pinpoint the best fit strategies for your student population and institutional needs. Discover new approaches for increasing study abroad participation and learn from in-depth case studies so you can build a long-term strategy for growth and diversification. Work at your own pace and select the modules of interest and necessity to you covering such topics as Campus Internationalization and Curriculum Integration; Health and Safety Matters; and Promoting Study Abroad to Students.

Staff, faculty, and administrators across the United States have used our MOOC as a tool to increase study abroad participation at their institutions. In an evaluation survey of participants, 100 percent of respondent either strongly agreed or agreed that participating in the MOOC enhanced their ability to use best practices in study abroad programs at their institutions. As one respondent said, “I am a one person office so my learning curve to remain current about best practices and trends in study abroad has always been a challenge until I enrolled in this course.”
